Problem :

In my line of work als a motorcycle mechanic, I often need to solder wires together in tight places. Often you just are short handed as you have to keep 2 pieces of wire that both tend to bend into a different direction together while soldering them. I could try and tigh them together, but I prefer to put some solder on both ends, and then solder them together.

Idea :

make a small clip that can keep both ends of the wire close together so they can be soldered together.

The clip should not be heavy, not too big due to the tight space it will be used in.

Design :

Designed a simple part. Next thing is to print it, and then wait for a test oppertunity.

Update 2025 - feb - 19

A few days ago I printed the above design, but as it was printing I already figured out that it would not be working the way I want it to.

Did a quick redesign, but again it would not be the one for me.

Now I have a version 3 design, which I will be printing tomorrow. Hopefully that this will be the one.

(How a small item can give you so much to think about.... wondering what would be when I start on the bigger projects.....)

UPDATE : 2025 - feb - 26

It has been printed and now awaiting the first job to test it on....

UPDATE : 2025 - feb - 28

Had a small soldering job on a loose (broken) wire, so time to test if it works as I had hoped. And it does. The wires clamp tight and can be positioned in such a way that they touch and stay that way. This makes soldering a lot easier, especially when it is going to be on a motorcycle in a tight spot. (This was still on the workbench)
