Welcome to my website dedicated to 3d projects I'm working on (or finished).

It is not going to be a very fancy website, just a sumup of what and how I tackled several problems/issues in designing and creating.

Who am I

I'm Rob, live in Alphen aan den Rijn (Netherlands) and have my own workshop in motorcycle maintenance and repairs, specialised in tyres (http://www.motorbandenzaak.nl).

Late 2024 I ran into a small broken plastic part on a motorcycle, and it turned out that it was not sold individually. You had to buy a full kit of € 80,= of which you didn't need 90%.

I already was aware that there were people out there with 3d printers that printed this object, and files for 3d printing it were widely available. I contacted a friend to print the part for me, and although it worked great it required some post processing that I felt could be avoided. But was this very small object enough for investing in a 3d printer ? Not at that immediate moment, but along the way I found more (already available) parts and nice gadgets for motorbikes that could be printed. And besides that I could see several other use of the printer for making my custum storage solutions for specific tools and stuff in my workshop, and also see (in a further future) an oppertunity to help in repairing motorcycles and have some nice (personalised) gadgets for customers and their bikes.

I spend a few months on the internet and already found out that there is going to be a very steep learning curve in both printing itself as well as designing custom parts. But in the end I found it a nice new hobby that I can use in my day job as well.

Why this website

I created this website just to share my travel in a brand new world of 3d printing and designing. Basically every project will start with a 'problem' which requires a (3d printed) solution. So every project will start with a problem description, and how I worked my way up to a workable and final solution. Some projects will be 'just for fun' as there are most likely commercial solution available. Others will be more personalised projects. And in the beginning the projects will be fairly simple and straight forward as I am starting off as a complete novice in 3d printing and designing !!

Suggestions/comments

For now (februari 2025) I will not give the oppertunity to sent me suggestions/comments or requests, but in future, if this website turns out to forfill a need, it might grow more and more as an aid to others. You never know how small ideas evolve.
